Just the FAQs: Why is the treasure in New Mexico?

Toby answers the question: “Toby: In Fenn’s first memoir, ‘The Thrill of the Chase,’ Fenn recounts his love of spending his summers in Yellowstone. He makes it sound special to him. What is it that makes you certain the treasure is hidden in New Mexico?”

  1. If? WWWH is the one of the NMGAF trout regulations “special waters”. Why would you think FF would say…

Quote: No specialized knowledge is required mdavis19, and I have no expectations. My Thrill of the Chase book is enough to lead an average person to the treasure.f
Specialized: Requiring or involving detailed and specific knowledge.

I lived in Cowles NM and known about the special trout waters but for the man in a pickup truck from Texas would need to know this specialized knowledge.

    • Fenn said “specialized knowledge” is not required. He didn’t say “specialized learning” is not required. Fenn had very little in the way of formal education. Yes, he was street smart, but street smart doesn’t get you in the cockpit of a high-performance jet fighter and risking your life. That specialized knowledge is acquired through learning. Fenn had no specialized knowledge of art, native American artifacts, archaeology, anthropology, business, marketing, running a gallery and a myriad of other subjects he learned about in his life time. Strikes me that part of this adventure is exploring things you might not otherwise know(ledge) about.

      • Thank you Toby, good possibility. That’s the type of answer I was seeking without giving it away it in my question.

  2. I don’t understand why it has taken so long for people to figure some of this stuff out. How ever I do have ESP and I have my own idea of where its at. I’m 69, not in good health otherwise I would be looking. I wish I could find someone to trust with my solve. I still have not heard my solve from anyone else? Waiting
