“The Treacherous Treasure Hunt of Forrest Fenn” <=== Not my clickbait!

Buzzfeed, the online media property that targets millennials, released a YouTube video under there “Unsolved Network” Brand entitled “The Treacherous Treasure Hunt of Forrest Fenn,” which, in my opinion, is not a very well composed title – but, who am I to argue? They have 1.3 million subscribers – and as of this writing the video has generated nearly a half-million views in a single day! I imagine we can expect an equal number of new searchers and new skeptics into the community.

Plus, we’ll likely see a whole new rash of “I’ve studied this for a whole day, and I know exactly where the treasure is! I need a partner to go get it!” posts in the Fenn forums.

Fun to watch, if a little off in some of the hints/clues, but a credible example of what a first BOTG will look/feel like – minus the Indiana Jones affectation.

Good for the search, or not? Comment below.

Special Announcement re: Fenn Treasure Hunter, Jaime Jordan (jjdiggins)

http://www.paypal.me/jjdiggins

Our fellow Forrest Fenn treasure hunter, Jamie Jordan, and her family lost their home and their business to the raging Mendocino, California fire, now the largest in the State’s history. Jamie is most commonly known on the forums as jjdiggins.

While, eventually, insurance will help them to rebuild their lives, they are in the meantime dealing with all the other issues that comes with losing everything in what is, effectively, a moment’s notice.

A group of fellow searchers, with the help of Forrest Fenn, has established an account at which donations can be made.

They have also arranged for a raffle drawing to be held in Jamie’s name using the above account.

Here’s how it works: for a minimum contribution of $25 your name will be entered into a raffle drawing for a set of donated items, including the following:

Fenn treasure search medallion, serial number 001, donated by Fenn himself.
A copy of The Thrill of the Chase, First Edition, signed by Forrest Fenn
A copy of each of Too Far to Walk and Once Upon a While, both signed by Forrest Fenn

You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must be at least $25 in order to participate in the raffle. To qualify, your contribution must be made before 5pm MDT on August 31, 2018.

You can enter the drawing at www.paypal.me/jjdiggins I’ve posted the link in the description box below.

Mike Cowling, cowlazars on YouTube, is responsible for managing the online raffle.

We will provide regular updates on our scheduled programming as more information becomes available.

Please contribute what you can, I have no doubt that Jamie and her family will appreciate your kindness.

Finally, please share this video with your family, friends and social networks, so that they, too, can have a chance at the drawing while helping Jamie and her family to recover. Thank you.

New, Short Article on Fenn Treasure by Margie Goldsmith

Goldsmith was one of those responsible for the expansion of the treasure hunt.

We interviewed Ms. Goldsmith in 2014: https://youtu.be/7daw3zGvsNc

Here’s the most recent article, June 28, 2018: Forbes Online: https://www.forbes.com/sites/margiegoldsmith/2018/06/28/hello-world/#618072006159

(Note: the article is 2 online pages long, and continues at the bottom of the first page.)

Fenn quote from the article:

“Fenn says that one hunter got within 200 feet of the treasure, but so far, no one has found it. ‘The treasure is not easy to find,’ says Fenn, ‘but it certainly isn’t impossible. All someone has to do is solve the clues in the poem and the chest can be theirs.’ Fenn admits that one clue is the most important clue in the poem: Finding where warm waters halt.”

Now, apparently, “where warm waters halt” is not only the first clue (Interview with NZ Radio) but, in addition, the most important clue.

The final paragraph in the article which contains our favorite Fenn quote:

“Says Fenn, ‘I think I will be a little disappointed if someone finds the chest this summer. I have said many times that I didn’t care if someone finds it because the ambiance of mystery will be gone, and a lot of people will be disappointed.’ He grins like the Cheshire cat and adds, ‘It is possible that someone will find the treasure this year, but they will have to figure out the clues first. They are not going to happen upon it.’’
